This is a simple post. A recommendation if you care to take it. There are two staple shirts every man should have in his closet. If you have a well fitted white and blue shirt you will never be out of place. They are necessities to getting dressed and you cannot go wrong putting them on (as long as they are clean).
In my personal opinion you should choose a 5 inch spread collar and your choice of cuff. If you want to dress it up lose the pocket and choose french cuffs. Not having a pocket gives the shirt a much more clean look. If you prefer a more European look pick the french placket. Otherwise you can keep that old east coast pride (not a bad thing, we are all from the far corner of the northeast) and put a box placket on it.
You can go with a standard dress broadcloth or you can really go for broke and get the 2 ply 140 thread count sea island cotton broadcloth as well. Both work, one is just a bit closer to baby’s bottom softness than the other.
That’s all there is to it. A white and blue shirt that fit. You will be amazed.
